We have had a team of Business Support Associates working to support enterprises across Kumasi, Ghana since February.  Here are the exciting businesses that we hope to take from investment readiness to investment worthiness.

Awoye Farm

Sector: Agriculture

Business Owner: Quarshie Nartey

Location: Kubease

Description of Product:  Currently they produce citrus fruits and are hoping to move into fruit processing and juice production

An Interesting Fact about the Business: It won the best citrus farm award in ejisu juaben municipality

 

Booomers International Ltd

Sector: Crafts

Number of Employees: 28

Business Owner: Kwabena Danso

Location: Apaah

Description of Product:  Booomers produce bamboo bicycle frames, bicycle stands, and speakers. Products are exported to their distributors, the major partner being in Germany.

USP: Transport products and crafts made from sustainable materials

An Interesting Fact about the Business: Booomers also seeks to address the issues of youth unemployment, poverty, and rural-urban migration.  Fifteen percent of profits goes back to helping the local community in projects such as libraries and funding scholarships for students.

Description of Product:  Natural fruit and vegetable juice in several different flavours.

USP: No added preservatives, sugar or any other additives to their drink; 100% natural juice.

An Interesting Fact about the Business: The business owner worked as a Banker for 10 years before resigning to go into fruit juice production, he wanted to live a healthier lifestyle.

 

Eco-cycle Ghana Ltd

Sector: Waste Management

Number of Employees: 3 Full-Time and 10 Part-Time

Business Owner: Bright Amoah-Antwi

Location: Ayigya

Description of Product:  Eco-cycle’s key product is the bio-composter, an innovative and eco-friendly toilet system which helps reduce water and soil contamination and improve hygiene and health. Eco-cycle is in partnership with banks which offer affordable financing solutions to their customers.

An Interesting Fact about the Business: Eco-cycle is always looking for new ways to manage waste. Their new innovative product will be roof-tiles and pavement blocks made of recycled shredded plastics.

Our Business Support Associates are now nearing the end of their 12-week voluntary placement in these exciting enterprises.  Through the UK Government funded Challenges Worldwide ICS programme it is our hope that they will be able to spot opportunities and make recommendations to the business owners that will help them grow their business over the long term.
