Meet the team: Team Kampala

Welcome to our new cohort of Challenges Worldwide International Citizen Service volunteers, or more formally our new team of “Business Support Associates”.  Over the following 3 months, they will be learning Professional Consulting with Challenges Worldwide and using their new skillset to give support to SME’s across Kampala, Uganda.

Angelica Sicignano

Age: 21

What were you doing before the programme? I was working in Sports Direct

What do you hope to get out of the programme? I choose to do this programme for lots of reasons, I want to understand how life is here and help people who are less fortunate than me. Also, I would like to build self-confidence, meet new people, and have business knowledge.

What were you doing before the programme? Sales and Marketing

What do you hope to get out of the programme? I would like to develop practical business skills and enhance my skills and confidence in the corporate world. Also, I would like to improve my decision-making abilities.

Claire Nakato

What were you doing before the programme? I was working at the electoral commission.

What do you hope to get out of the programme? I hope to get hands on business experience so that I can one day set up on my own. I also aim to gain leadership experience and boost my confidence, especially in public speaking. I love the idea of a career in humanitarian services, and I believe ICS is a great opportunity to start from.

Claudia Sulowska

What were you doing before the programme? Claudia was studying economics at university.

What do you hope to get out of the programme? Claudia is hoping to contribute to alleviating poverty and hardships on a local scale through supporting an enterprise. She is also hoping to gain insights from alternate cultures.

What were you doing before the programme? I was working as a programme officer at the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy

What do you hope to get out of the programme? I aim to here enterprise become more sustainable and help create a more sustainable economy. I also hope to learn about new cultures and ways of life, and how these can impact on one’s way of life, attitudes and perceptions.

Please tell us a fun fact about you: I like to wear my underwear inside out when I have a big deal to close!

What do you hope to get out of the programme? I aim to leave the programme with an experience of working with people across various global cultures, and to actively participate in solving social enterprise issues.

What were you doing before the programme? Family Health International (FHI 360) as a Youth Program Associate under the USAID/ Uganda Education and Research to Improve Climate Change Adaptation Activity.

What do you hope to get out of the programme? I hope to learn more on how to deal with big groups of people
