Meet the Team: Kumasi, Summer 2017

Welcome to our new cohort of Challenges Worldwide International Citizen Service volunteers, or more formally our new team of “Business Support Associates”.  Over the following 3 months, they will be learning Professional Consulting with Challenges Worldwide and using their new skillset to give support to SME’s across Kumasi, Ghana.

What do you hope to get out of the programme?

I hope to gain experience of working in a cross cultural environment, while at the same time use my skills to help SME’s and meet truly inspiring people.

What do you hope to get out of the programme?

I hope to gain skills that would equip me to impact enterprises in my society and country as a whole.

What were you doing before the programme?

Before placement, completed my year in industry at Morgan Sindall as part of my International Business Management degree at the University of Lincoln.

What do you hope to get out of the programme?

I want to gain knowledge of Business consultancy for my future career as well as experiencing a different culture and growing myself. I would also like if I could do some good and help a business to improve during my cycle.

Studying Politics and Economics at the University of Southhampton.

What do you hope to get out of the programme?

I want to gain experience and knowledge from working in a business set up. I would really like to know the ins and outs of working in a business. Furthermore, I would like to improve my interpersonal skills.

I run my own leather business and I direct short films.

What do you hope to get out of the programme?

Adapting to a new culture, living in a host home, regaining independence and learning more about business ethic and production in a different environment.

I’m an apprentice working towards my Civil Engineering qualification at my family’s Engineering company.

What do you hope to get out of the programme?

I was an insurance claims handler.

What were you doing before the programme?

I was working for two years on various projects with Google Maps around EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa).

What do you hope to get out of the programme?

I hope to develop my leadership skills, work towards achieving the CMI qualification and maybe even learn some of the local language, Twi. I’m excited to learn more about culture in Ghana, entrepreneurship and meet amazing people along the way!

I will never get used to waking up as early as Ghanaian’s! The early bird may get the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese. I like Cheese jokes.

Working in an educational equality charity. Helping disadvantaged young people get into top universities. I was saving the world!

I once turned down an invitation to meet the Prime Minister; instead, I, referred to spend some time in the sun with my girlfriends!
